Reno Chapter-In-Person NAPA AUTOTECH Training Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Diag & Case Studies-2026

Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Diagnostics and Case Studies - 2026

Modern EVAP systems can be challenging to diagnose, especially when dealing with intermittent faults, small leaks, and manufacturer-specific testing strategies. This class will provide practical diagnostic techniques for EVAP systems found on domestic, Asian-Pacific Rim, and European vehicles.

Topics include pressure-based and vacuum-style EVAP designs, leak detection using pressure testing, smoke machines, and CO₂ detection, as well as onboard bi-directional testing procedures. Participants will also learn how to interpret scan data, understand global OBD Mode values, and utilize diagnostic tools to improve testing accuracy and efficiency.

The course will also compare EVAP system operation and testing strategies on naturally aspirated and turbocharged applications, helping technicians develop a more complete understanding of system performance and repair.

Why Attend?

• Improve your ability to diagnose difficult EVAP system faults
• Learn proven testing methods using smoke, pressure, and CO₂ detection tools
• Better understand scan data and global OBD Mode values
• Compare diagnostic strategies across domestic, Asian, and European vehicle platforms
• Gain insight into EVAP system differences between naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines
• Increase diagnostic accuracy while reducing unnecessary parts replacement and comeback repairs

NOTE: Two sessions of the same class are being offered to provide flexible attendance options.
